Bio
Hailing from Lahore, Pakistan Zain is the Marianita Lopez Executive Fellow at ACLU of Hawai'i and supports the Executive Director's office across leadership, administrative, and organizational initiatives.
Zain comes to ACLU-HI most recently from Harvard Divinity School, where he earned his Master of Theological Studies concentrating in Religious Thought, Philosophy, and Theology.
His capstone research centered around the development of political organizing through the religious infrastructure of New York City, which was heavily informed by his organizing work with DRUM NYC (Desis Rising Up and Moving) during the 2025 Mamdani Mayoral Campaign. Prior to Harvard, Zain earned his B.A. in English from Lahore University of Management Sciences . He's excited to bring that background to Hawai'i and ACLU-HI's community-centered civil rights work.
Parallel to everything else going on in his life, Zain spends an unruly amount of time playing and studying chess.
