This bill, companion bill HB 1382, explicitly bans "no-knock" warrants and requires law enforcement officers to wait at least thirty seconds before entering a house, store, or other buildings when executing a warrant. It also requires law enforcement officers to execute warrants in uniform. This bill was named "Breonna's Law" after the 26-year old Black medical worker who was murdered in her own home by police during a botched no-knock raid.
