This bill, companion bill SB 30, prohibits police from acquiring certain military-grade equipment and weapons, such as armored vehicles and Long Range Acoustic Devices (LRADs). This bill also bans police acquisition of "less lethal" weapons such as rubber bullets, bean bag guns, and chemical agents such as tear gas--which can cause lasting injurires and death--against protestors. Police should not be at war with the communities they are meant to serve.
